TANTOMILE
Tantomile awoke, feeling confused & still tired. The last thing she remembered was the spell going awry. . Wait, the infirmary . . Munk & Tugger talking. . about triads & speculating on mating. Embarrassment washed over her again at having heard such a private conversation. Why did life have to be so complicated? She shook off the mood with difficulty. there were a lot more important things than her non-existent lovelife after all.
taking comfort in the intellectual rather than the emotional, her well-trained mind minutely examined all the aspects of the spell until she was able to isolate the power signature of the intruder. She didn't know who it was, but she would at least recognize it if she felt it again.
The slender calico leaned back on the soft bed she was lying on ready to sleep a little more, then realized, she wasn't in her own den. She looked around, but couldn't tell whose den it was. Great, now she was a trespasser.

The first place Munkus knew where to look for his father was his own den that he shared with his brother and their father together, literally just the three of them, and Aunt Jenny on occasion for kittensitting. From in the outer family living room type of area the 'front door' was pulled open and Munkus called in "Dad ? You home ?" Seeing nobody in the living room but smelling his father recently being there he went to the little kitichen where Aunt Jenny normally prepared food for the three males in the family. His father rarely went in there to begin with.
Munkus sat back on his heels thoughtfully, OK, so, Dad's not here, he could be asleep. But do I really want to wake him up ? Munkus thought for all of a minute before making up his mind, waking up his father to tell him what his heart was yelling in his ears seemed rather fitting. But then again, trying to explain being in love to a father who's been woken up and lead from the house while living his mind sound asleep on the pillow is not exactly the best way to tell your father a week later how he's got a daughter in law without knowing it or even recalling it....
So with that in mind Munkus went to the small hallway that split the den into three sections, well, six total rooms, the living room at the front where one came in, then the little 'kitchen' and dining room area, then the hallway, and two 'bedrooms' He poked his head into his and Tuggers room, seeing nothing there, nor smelling his father even in the room for at least a decade, he poked his head into his fathers den and his jaw dropped open. His heart hammered briefly before his eyes glazed over and he fainted dead away there in the hall.
Well, Munkus thought, Cori's gonna kill me
Cori was NOT going to be happy about this, Tantomile had disappeared from the Healers Den, and reappeared in his fathers den that he shared with his two sons. This was NOT going to end well.

TANTOMILE
The slender calico's eyes opened again as she heard a soft 'thump'. Embarrassed, she realized she was no longer alone-the owner of the den must be back. She wished she could scent who's den it was, but her nose rarely worked well after magic. The herbs tended to make her sneeze. She called softly, "I'm sorry if I'm in your bed; it was an accident. Hello? Is someone there?" A bit puzzled when there was no response, she weakly lay back down. Maybe she was hearing things? She'd get up to take a look, but right now she was to tired to get up, let alone teleport again. Unfortunately, her mind didn't want to stop working. It kept going back to the conversation she'd heard with Munk & Tugger. She wasn't sure a mateship was a good idea for her anyway. She did like Munk & he was definitely sexy, but was she right for him? He was future leader-that alone put him in the spotlight, a place she would never be comfortable in. Uneasily, she closed her eyes to try & sleep. She comforted herself with the thought, Likely it was just one of those male conversations that meant nothing anyway.

In the hall Munkus slapped himself awake. This wasn't going to end well. His eyes had to be playing tricks on him. But nope. He stole a quick peek and also heard her voice. Tantomile was in his fathers home! His heart hammered, He thought carefully on what to say, how to say it. 'I love you' was not exactly what he should say and he knew it. Finally he pulled himself to his feet and cleared his mind, then ducked into his fathers bedroom.
There she laid, on his fathers bed, atop the covers, tired, beautiful as ever. His heart hammered. Cori's gonna kill me. Munkus thought. But until then, might as well make the most of it. With that thought Munkus quietly stepped closer to the bed and then chrouched down to eye level. Speaking softly he said "Tantomile. Are you alright ? Is there something wrong ?" His eyes said it all. He was sorry for what he had said, never intending to hurt her. A gentle silver and black paw came up and gently brushed aside a wayward strand or two of her mane from her face. She truly was beauitful.
But Tugger was right, how was Deme could to handle this when his heart was set on them both and his uncle was going to be teaching him in stead of dad ? OK, Mom, whatever insight you have, Now would be a good time. Munkus thought. How could he tell his friend how he really felt when he may have just hurt her more then he had ever thought in the worst possible way ?
Without thinking on what he was doing, let alone any brain activity whatsoever, he gently lifted Tantomile from his fathers bed and carried her to his own room and laid her on his own bed. She'd be much more comfortable there. Of all the people in the world, he never, ever, expected to find her in his familiys home. He felt her forehead briefly, it felt warm to the touch, as if she were tired, or ill. Going over to the sink nearby he soaked a rag and went back to her side, gently pressing the cool wet cloth to her forehead and dabbing off the sweat he saw there. Whatever that magic was must have really drained her, and now her body's working overtime to compenstate for it. Munkus thought. He'd never seen Tantomile that tired before in his life. Normally she was very energetic.
But something had happened, and his heart, for the moment, was at peace. But his mind was a complete mess.

TANTOMILE
Tanto's eye's flickered. She didn't feel good-this was more than a simple exhaustion after a spell casting. She wasn't sure what was wrong, but something seemed to be draining her. Perhaps it was the malignant presence she felt earlier? She sensed another cat's was in the room with her. She tried to get her dry throat to work, "Cori? is that you?" she rasped softly. "Where am I?" She was really disoriented now, this wasn't the room she'd awoken in, but she still didn't recognize it. She was feeling very feverish as her body attempted to fight off the intruder-he or she seemed only able to drain her when she slept, it stopped when she was awake, but she was soo tired. Frightened, she mentally reached for her brother-<Cori? I. . I need you. . .> she managed.

His mind raced. When Tantomile tried to speak her voice was dry, almost dead sounding. His heart pounded in his chest as she struggled to stay awake. But when she asked if he was her brother he was torn on what to say. So he spoke the truth, regardless of the results. "No, Its me, Munkus. I don't know where Cori is, but I can go get him if you want me to." There was concern, and extreme worry in his tone as he spoke. When she all but blacked out again he went and got a cold cloth and soaked it with water and went back and with the cloth he slowly soaked her forehead from the sweat and tried his best to cool her down. She was running a fever.
That done his mind was made up, his father could wait. For now, Tantomile needed help. He put the cloth back into the basin and said "Don't go anywhere, and don't try to speak, just try to keep awake as long as you can. You're running a fever, stay here. I'll be right back with your brother as soon as I find him." Oh Bast protect her! He thought as he all but bolted from the den looking for Cori as quickly as he could.

((Coricopat)) the dark calico tom swiftly approached the den near the tire following the siren call of his link with his sister. he was convinced when he saw Munkustrap moving near the entrance. any irritation he might have had over the silver tabbys preseance was quelled by the near panic and conceren that radiated in a chorona around Munkustrap. he nodded to the tom, "she needs us I know, and your assistance is welcome," he said. 'hello sister, the next time you sleep lets make it in the safe room ofor dens, you would benifit from the wards I think,' he added mentaly in a sootheng tone.

"She needs you more then she needs me" Munkus replied upon seeing Cori, then, all but grabbing Cori and pulling him into the den. Speaking as he did so, "I came home looking for my father, I wanted to talk to him about something important, instead I found Tanto on my fathers bed. She woke up thought I was you, so rather then hurt her more I took her from my fathers room to mine and Tuggers, in the case dad came home unexpected. Mostly out of safety really. But then she spoke again, sounded tired, dry throated, almost dead if you ask me, something's wrong, she's got a fever too." He lead Cori directly to his bedroom in the den. "I did my best to keep her cool, but, I don't think it worked" He pointed out the cold soaked rags not far away in the basin.
Quaxo appeared not far behind Cori, but Munkus had taken Cori a bit too quick for Quaxo to follow, instead he took a post by the dens door and stood like a sentry. Keeping careful watch on the outside.

TANTOMILE
Tanto lay quietly. Now that Cori was near she could feel her energies restoring enough to clear her head. She was by no means at her full strength, but she was able to think & to plan. She wasn't quite up to speaking out loud yet, but fortunately it took no energy at all to communicate with her twin. She was unaware of how ethereal & delicate she looked at the moment-as if a breeze would be enough to waft her away. <Cori, something or someone is draining me while I sleep. I don't know who or what. Whatever it is, it latched onto me while I was doing my ritual. We need to figure out what it is before I can counter it. For now, you're going to have to be my arms & legs.> She gave a wry smile, she knew how much Cori hated ritual magic. Under normal circumstances, he'd be complaining up a storm right now. <Perhaps you could take me to my den so I can access both my protections & my spellbooks?> There had to be something there she could use. She didn't want to tell him, that there was a possibility that since she was already affected, even the formidable protections on her workroom wouldn't help her much until they figured this out. They would cross that bridge when they came to it.

((Coricopat)) the dark calico tom turned to Munkustrap, "please find Stubinz and bring him to wheare Tanto and I have our Dens. I belive that he may know some lore that may be of use." Coricopat said. 'I understand sister dear I am sending Munkustrap to fetch Stubinz I think his knowledge of the Fair Folk may have a bearing. in the mean time I'll be taking you home. though may I suggest the comunal safe room? it is larger well warded and has easier access to both of our collections' he sent mentaly. then the dark calico tom swiftly entered the den.

Munkus nodded to Cori, with a firm grip to his friend shoulder he turned and left the den as quickly as he could. Upon exiting he spotted the massive Tuxedo tom. After a heartbeat of thought Munkus simply said to Quaxo "Stay with Cori, help him with everything he and his sister need. Try not to do any structural damage, I'll be back as quickly as I can." With that he took off in the predawn light.
Quaxo did not have time to speak to Munkus as the Silver Tabby took off. But he had a new task set before him, to protect and help Coricopat and his sister Tantomile with whatever was needed. Even protection if it was not required.

((Coricopat)) the dark calico tom paused at his sisters side and smiled, 'do not worry sister, oh and by the feel there is a fine fellow waiting outside to help that I think you will like.' sent her telapathicly. then he gently picked her up. 'Tantomile you are not eating enough, you hardly weigh a thing! what would Mother say?' he continued as he carried her out of the den. "hello Quaxo, this way," he said with a quiet smile. "we share a complex of rooms below the ground in a structure that was built by humans and abandonded long ago. they are sturdy and suit our needs," he explained as he led the way.

Quaxo nodded and took up the rear behind Coricopat as the tom carried his sister. He kept careful watch the entire way and when they came to the place that Coricopat indicated Quaxo opened the door and stepped in after Cori had entered. Closing it behind him. Hopefully Munkus knew where to look for them. Keeping himself distanced from Tantomile, though concern clearly on his face. He asked quietly to Cori "What is the matter with her ? Has something occurred to drain her strength ?" He asked as he reached over and felt for a pulse with three fingers. There was one, but rather weak.

TANTOMILE
Tanto was breathing shallowly, struggling to keep from succumbing to the blackness sweeping over her. She felt her borther's presence & felt a surge of energy as he picked her up & carried her out. <Another cat?> she asked Cori. <who? I hear Munkustrap, well at least I think I did.> She felt someone feeling her wrist. Weakly, she tried to struggle. <who is that Cori?> It didn't feel like anyone she knew, but she admitted she had a tendency to keep to herself unless Teazer or Cori made her socialize. Right now though, she was feeling suspicious of anyone & everything.

((Coricopat)) the dark calico tom looked at Quaxo and said solemly "first she over extended herself and then was set upon mysticly." then he heard Tantomiles question and he supressed a small smile then Coricopat replied to his sister mentaly, 'his name is Quaxo,' then he gave her a vivid mental picture of the handsome musclebound tuxedo giant, 'he is quite an honorable sort and he assisted in ridding the Oak in the Healers Dens garden of the Strangleweed.' he continued as he ducked inside the den and carried into the safe room that lay between her workroom and his, and which could be entered from eaither. gently he laid his sister down upon a pallet that sat within a protective symbol. then he set up a series of incesence burners with complimentary scents that would bolster her spritual strength and harmony. he looked over at Quaxo "if you would be so kind, the kitchen is through there," he said gestureing, "if you could bring in the brazier, and kettle and start some water boiling. thank you."

The gentle yet ironfirm grip on her wrist kept its strength when Tanto tried to struggle free for but a few seconds longer before letting go. Quaxo then followed Cori as the other tom set about the den setting up incense burners, some braziers, and lastly, giving out the quest for some water to be boiled. Quaxo saw it more as a request then an order. After all, he saw Cori as a friend and respected him and his sister. With a simple nod Qoaxo did as instructed and soon had the water boiling. Acting on pure instinct alone Quaxo took a pinch of the Catnip leaves Jellyorum had given him and dropped two into the boiling water. Not only was Catnip a good meditative additive when burned, but when boiled as a tea he found that it had a very good affect on cats as humans had with pure adrenaline. Only in a lesser strength dose.

((Coricopat)) the dark calico tom nodded to Quaxo when he returned with the tea, "thank you," his eyes glowed with approval when he caught the scent of the brew, "an exccelent choice! you are a credit to your instructors Quaxo, and you are going to be a great asset while you are with the tribe!" 'Sister Dear, drink please...' Coricopat sent mentaly to Tantomile as he held the cup to her lips. "this was built by Humans as a place of protection and sanctuary from attacks out of the sky. that intent has made it quite...suitiable for our pouposes, and very accepting of our additional protections," he said aloud to Quaxo.

TANTOMILE
Tanto weakly struggled against Quaxo's hold on her wrist. She wasn't comfortable being handled. Cori carrying her was bad enough. She felt herself being set down & sprawled rather ungracefully across the bed, cursing her weakness as she couldn't settle herself more comfortably. she sent a slightly acidic thought to Cori, <I Will drink it, brother, if you help me sit up a little so I don't lay like a ragdoll & spill it all over myself.>
She knew she wasn't being very polite, but right now she didn't care. Even her shyness wasn't bothering her for the moment, she was just too tired. Later, she might get upset, but right now, she didn't even mind the large cat looming over her. Actually, to her surprise, he made her feel rather. .safe? How odd. She almost never had this type of reaction-especially not to a strange tom. The little calico decided to think about it all later, however, & obediantly sipped her tea, relishing the sweet taste & scent.

"A human made shelter to shelter those they wise to protect." He said thoughtfully, Having seen one only once before in his life on his travels through the Eastern World of Russia and northern Europe, "Rather interesting to see there are more still intact as the one I saw in Berlin." He concluded once more taking a post by the door to keep careful watch, the only door as far as he could see.
He knew only enough about mystics to survive around them. And besides, even if there was a hidden door, He'd still find it very easily as the place he took his post as a gentle watchful doorman he could see the entire room cearly. And as such, easily to find any secret door. Even into a closet.
