The black & gold queen slipped from the shadows to travel down the side streets. This wasn't the worst part of town, but it wasn't the safest either. She was looking for a new teacher-someone to further her survival skills. Someone had said the Great Rumpus cat might help. Problem was, no one seemed to know where the Cat he was. "Rumpus was here yesterday, Rumpus will be here tomorrow. . but no never Rumpus here today!" she muttered to herself. She rubbed a paw over her eyes, trying not to cry. It had been a rough week. She kept having nightmares about the henches leering at her. . waiting till her guard was down-then boom dragging her to Macavity. She still didn't understand some cats. They knew how dangerous Mac was, but it was like, it was some kind of prestige, rather than the deadly danger she knew it was. He was some kind of villain celebrity-like those old American gansters from the 30s or the gun slingers from the old west. they were highly entertaining, till you met one gunning for you, she supposed. The lovely cat continued down the street, alertly looking for any kind of trouble.

Gilbert The Cream tom had gone out looking for something to calm down his nerves. Though had wasted a good deal of his time, and when he finally had found someone willing to trade him a small sample, with no questions asked, it had been a bad batch of nip. He had found a desolate and high enough perch to sleep it off, wait it out. It was high enough that he was sure he'd go by unnoticed by those below, but not high enough that he'd suffer major damage if he fell off. A few hours had passed, and feeling more himself, and ironically no longer annoyed or jittery, he rose from his perch stretching out his hind legs, and the cracking some of his bones/releasing tension in his neck. The black fur seemed to blend in with the shadows, beyond him, but this only made his ginger/"rust" accents more noticeable. Gilbert smoothly jumped down onto the street, but his mind picked up another nearby before he saw them, and he inwardly groaned. It would be just his luck if it was Oswin coming back just to annoy him into an oblivion or worse.
((Hope you don't mind RPing with Gil. XD))

Deme refused to react, but she was startled to be suddenly confronted by the thin tom. She looked at him silently for a moment wondering why she hadn't seen him before. She took in his rather disheveled appearance. It looked like he'd been howling on the roof all night. she thought with a touch of amusement. And now he was paying for it. "Hello," she said cautiously. The gold & black queen didn't want to be rude, but she wasn't too trusting of strangers.
(Silly, why would I mind? *glomp*cuddle Gil* sorry it took me so long to respond)

Gilbert Gilbert's ice blue eyes were trained on this new queen, but she made no move to get closer and neither did she seem annoying...yet. He had been under the impression that Oswin had found him again; it was the way his luck normally turned out. But this queen seemed more cautious and private and he relaxed at that. Not noticeably. He did give a grunt, and a small nod of his head, before his voice came in a gruff tone. "Hi." Though his voice was rough and hostile, his body language was meek, withdrawn and cautious.
((Don't worry about it. Sorry it took me a long time, and that it's short/crappy.))

Deme watched the thin tom carefully, relieved that he made no immediate hostile moves. Maybe he wasn't a hench? He might just be a stray. she thought. She relaxed just slightly. She cocked her head. In her quiet voice, she asked, "I'm looking to buy some information & you look like you could use a meal. Are you willing to talk a little?" She didn't know if he could give her anything she could use, but in this part of town, no one ever gave anything for free. So just giving him food or money wouldn't work-no matter how soft her heart was. Besides, he may know where Rumpus was. She couldn't afford to miss out on any opportunity.
(*pounce cuddles* why do I see them circling each other warily? lol)

Gilbert The tom, though cautiously friendly, frowned slightly at the golden calico's words. He scoffed, and the tip of his tail curled in agitation. "I can survive just fine without your meal bribe or 'charity'." He nearly hissed out. It was about pride, but he didn't need to tell her information just so he could have one meal. "Besides.." His voice a tad calmer now. "There's no guarantee I'll know-" He cut himself off before he said Rumpus' name, just realizing she probably hadn't spoken that out loud. "Any information you seek."

The golden queen refrained from making a smart comment. So he had pride, for some cats--that's all they did have. She could understand that. Cocking her head, the slender queen nodded, "Well, if you aren't hungry, that's fine, but I hate to eat in front of people." Pulling off a small backpack--made in a black & gold color that almost matched her fur, she moved to a more private spot & settled down on a small stoop--a place that was reasonably defensible. Hiding her curiosity about the tom with a calm unreadable expression, she set out some plain kibble, some cheese & a prize--some filched sushi. She set the food on a small plate, not looking at Gilbert & carefully nibbled a little of everything--again without comment. "You are welcome to share my lunch." she said quietly. "So, if I asked you about someone, you might have some information?" she added, trying to hide her anxiety.

GilbertThe pale, and thin tom watched intently as the queen started to move slowly. He was a bit wary, but he tried not to let it show too much. She opened up her small pack of lunch and Gilbert's stomach churned. After the bad buzz he had just experienced, food was something that made him feel nauseous. Though, he ate very little during the day and night anyway, so most food...or the smell of food, turned him away. He did look a bit sick, when he saw the food, but shook his head. Though his eyes had previously followed her to the stoop, he walked a couple steps to the side, still standing, but chose to lean against the wall, still able to see her clearly, and to talk to her. Gratefully, she wasn't annoying him like Oswin had done, and if he were honest with himself, he didn't want to be alone at that precise moment. "I'm going to assume you're a jellicle. Or at least friendly with that lot. Most around here don't offer to share." He spoke without any scorn. It was what it was. "I am not all knowing, so I can't promise you. Who exactly are you looking for? And why do you need to find him?"
